Our name, Medicanix, combines medical with mechanics, which is both the industry and skills we have dedicated our passion towards for over 30 years.  Our company is ever growing, but we still ensure every customer experience delivers against our Mission and Vision Statements:

Our biomedical equipment technicians service medical equipment repairs on a wide array of equipment such as microscopes, autoclaves, sterilizers, power exam tables, EKG machines, and many various types of healthcare equipment. Laboratory, Dental, Veterinary and Physical Therapy offices are among the specialties we provide our services for. We have service the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area. Meet our team

Kevin Lyons


Kevin essentially grew up and around the business, started out working for his father, John Lyons after graduating school. Kevin knows every facet of the company and to this day has kept his technical skills sharp. His greatest satisfaction comes from watching employees grow, learn, and succeed at work. During his personal time, Kevin enjoys traveling and exploring new adventures alongside his wife and three children.

John Lyons


After losing his job as a Mechanical Engineer in 1982, John recognized the opportunity for repairing medical equipment, as a steady, recession proof, business of which he could utilize his engineering, electrical and mechanical skills. This led to John starting Medicanix Medical Equipment Repair Company which was later incorporated by his son Kevin in 2005 who assumed the role as President and CEO. John now serves as our Head Engineer and Designer of our Emergency Battery Power backup systems ( And in his spare time, John stays actively involved in his church and enjoys mentoring young men.

Kelly Brown

Sales & Marketing Account Manager

A seasoned sales and marketing executive, Kelly brings over 20 years of experience to Medicanix. Kelly has worked in top NYC, CT & NJ Advertising Agencies. A former Senior Vice President, Kelly was responsible for building comprehensive and results driven campaigns for blue chips clients like Home Depot, Verizon, Nestle Waters, IBM, Wyndham Worldwide, Mercedes Benz, NY Lottery, Pfizer, Sunny D and Kraft. Often described as the “head cheerleader, with a quarterback’s skills and toughness, Kelly wears deep experience lightly. Your problem is her challenge – she won’t rest until it’s solved”. In her personal time, Kelly loves gardening, the beach, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Owen Pontefract

Operations Manager 

Owen got his start at Medicanix, at the young age, making deliveries to customers. After graduating high school, he worked primarily in the service industry before officially starting as a junior service technician. 14.5 years with the company, today Owen serves as our “in-house” equipment expert, trainer extraordinaire and trusted advisor to our customers. Owen loves spending time with his family; especially chasing after his 4- and 1-year old children and being actively involved with his church.

Anthony Vanech

Sr. Technician and Shop Manager

Anthony is one of our tenured employees who came to us 9 years ago with little biomedical experience but a huge desire to learn and grow while helping others. Anthony enjoys solving customer problems, the uniqueness each workday has to offer. Plus, the satisfaction of knowing he’s helped our customers. As a father to his two young daughters, Anthony’s passions include spending time with his wife and kids, pursuing Jiu-Jitsu and shredding down a mountain on his snowboard.

Joseph Milazzo

Service Technician 

With a soul and passion for helping others, Joe came to Medicanix with a hospitality background. In less than two short years, Joe has risen from Receptionist to a Field Service Technician where he enjoys interacting with customers and solving their problems. In his personal time, Joe is a die-hard sports fan; especially the NY Jets. Loves cooking and making his famous alfredo shrimp and pasta dish while his adorable puppy Ginger looks on.

Greg Pontefract

Assembler, Medi+Products

Bringing over 30 years of residential construction experience to Medicanix, Greg is our resident “Bob-The-Builder”. He works closely with John to fabricate and construct the Emergency Battery Power Backup systems. Greg’s specialty skill lies in streamlining operations and quality control. What Greg likes most about working at Medicanix is the ability to work with a trustworthy and family-oriented company. In his personal time, Greg and his wife are the proud parents of six children, including his son Owen whom he gets to work with each day, and six grandchildren.

Office Manager 

Kathy brings a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years as an Office Manager and Executive Assistant to her role. With a knack for solving financial problems and delivering a smile through the phone, Kathy is completely dedicated to customer service. An avid swimmer and sewer, Kathy also enjoys delving into the Sci-Fi and Fantasy books.

Ron Lyons

Service Technician 

A true craftsman at heart, Ron began his career in sales working alongside his father selling diamond blades and various tools to industrial supply distributors. Looking for a change of pace that allowed him to work with his hands while making a difference in people’s lives, Ron came to Medicanix a two and a half years ago as a Field Service Technician. Each day offers a new learning opportunity which makes the job exciting. Ron is a sports fan and can be found cheering on his favorite NY sports teams; Jets, Islanders and Knicks. And, he’s an International Traveler!

Rachel Hanson

Design and Marketing Specialist

As a recent graduate of SUNY Polytechnic Institute and our newest team member, Rachel brings a new perspective to the Medicanix team. With her drive for success, creative personality, and a technical background, she is eager to bring a more user friendly experience across all digital platforms. Planned Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance or “PM” service is an equipment inspection and functionality test. .

Biomadical Inspections

Annual and Semi-Annual Biomedical Inspections are necessary to meet requirements that are put forth by State, The Joint Commission, AAAASF, AAAHC and others.

Autoclaves & Sterilizers

Our technicians are factory trained and work on all sterilizers makes and models such as Midmark-Ritter, Tuttnauer, Sci-Can and Pelton & Crane tabletop autoclaves.

Power Exam & Surgery Table Repair 

Some common models that Medicanix excels at servicing are the Ritter 75 Elevation tables and the Hamilton Inage 1K2 tables, and our Medicanix technicians have been factory trained on these specific tables.

Equipment Refurbishing

Medicanix offers reupholster services for medical exam tables, dermatology table, podiatry chairs, rehabilitation and physical therapy platform tables, chiropractic tables, optometry and plastic surgery chairs or tables and dental chairs.
