Our name, Medicanix, combines medical with mechanics, which is both the industry and skills we have dedicated our passion towards for over 30 years. Our company is ever growing, but we still ensure every customer experience delivers against our Mission and Vision Statements:

Our biomedical equipment technicians service medical equipment repairs on a wide array of equipment such as microscopes, autoclaves, sterilizers, power exam tables, EKG machines, and many other various types of healthcare equipment. Laboratory, Dental, Veterinary and Physical Therapy offices are among the specialties we provide our services for. We service the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area. Medicanix has established its great reputation by responding to our customer’s needs in a prompt manner along with providing excellent customer service.
Meet Our Team
Kevin Lyons
President
Kevin essentially grew up and around the business, and started out working for his father, John Lyons after graduating school. Kevin knows every facet of the company and to this day has kept his technical skills sharp. His greatest satisfaction comes from watching employees grow, learn, and succeed at work. During his personal time, Kevin enjoys traveling and exploring new adventures alongside his wife and three children.
Kathy Santeramo
Office Manager
Kathy brings a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years as an Office Manager and Executive Assistant to her role. With a knack for solving financial problems and delivering a smile through the phone, Kathy is completely dedicated to customer service. An avid swimmer and sewer, Kathy also enjoys delving into the Sci-Fi and Fantasy books.
Greg Pontefract
Assembler, Medi+Products
Bringing over 30 years of residential construction experience to Medicanix, Greg is our resident “Bob-The-Builder”. He works closely with John to fabricate and construct the Emergency Battery Power Backup systems. Greg’s specialty skill lies in streamlining operations and quality control. What Greg likes most about working at Medicanix is the ability to work with a trustworthy and family-oriented company. In his personal time, Greg and his wife are the proud parents of six children, including his son Owen whom he gets to work with each day, and six grandchildren.
John Lyons
Founder/Engineer
After working as a Mechanical Engineer for many years, John recognized the opportunity for repairing medical equipment, as a steady, recession proof, business of which he could utilize his engineering, electrical and mechanical skills. This led to John starting Medicanix Medical Equipment Repair Company in 1982, which was later incorporated by his son Kevin in 2005 who assumed the role as President and CEO. John now serves as our Head Engineer and Designer of our Emergency Battery Power backup systems (mediproducts.net). And in his spare time, John stays actively involved in his church and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
Ian Lyons
Sales and Account Manager
Growing up around the business, Ian started as a Bio-Medical Technician for 8 years. Now, he is our newest hire and Sales and Account Manager, for Medi-Products. In his free time, he enjoys family outings and home improvement.
Anthony Vanech
Sr. Technician and Shop Manager
Anthony is one of our tenured employees who came to us 9 years ago with little biomedical experience but a huge desire to learn and grow while helping others. Anthony enjoys solving customer problems, the uniqueness each workday has to offer. Plus, the satisfaction of knowing he’s helped our customers. As a father to his two young daughters, Anthony’s passions include spending time with his wife and kids, pursuing Jiu-Jitsu and shredding down a mountain on his snowboard.
Owen Pontefract
Operations Manager
Owen got his start at Medicanix, at the young age, making deliveries to customers. After graduating high school, he worked primarily in the service industry before officially starting as a junior service technician. 14.5 years with the company, today Owen serves as our “in-house” equipment expert, trainer extraordinaire and trusted advisor to our customers. Owen loves spending time with his family; especially chasing after his 4- and 1-year old children and being actively involved with his church.
Ron Lyons
Service Technician
A true craftsman at heart, Ron began his career in sales working alongside his father selling diamond blades and various tools to industrial supply distributors. Looking for a change of pace that allowed him to work with his hands while making a difference in people’s lives, Ron came to Medicanix a two and a half years ago as a Field Service Technician. Each day offers a new learning opportunity which makes the job exciting. Ron is a sports fan and can be found cheering on his favorite NY sports teams; Jets, Islanders and Knicks. And, he’s an International Traveler!
Joseph Milazzo
Service Technician
With a soul and passion for helping others, Joe came to Medicanix with a hospitality background. In less than two short years, Joe has risen from Receptionist to a Field Service Technician where he enjoys interacting with customers and solving their problems. In his personal time, Joe is a die-hard sports fan; especially the NY Jets, and loves cooking and making his famous alfredo shrimp and pasta dish while his adorable puppy Ginger looks on.
