The major skills for this position including good troubleshooting skills, mechanical skills, excellent time management, agility, safety testing, and in-depth knowledge of hand tools and multimeters. A 2-year associate degree in biomedical engineering technology can be a great start for any student looking to enter as a medical equipment service technician. The course will prepare you for equipment operation, equipment functioning, installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree for a four years course in biomedical engineering technology is great since you have the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of complex medical operations, maintenance techniques, and other A-grade things.

Once you’ve opted in for a course, you can participate in an internship and gather experience from there.

  • CRES or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialists

  • CLEB or Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialists

Any of these certifications can be earned depending on your area of expertise. This position requires at least an associate degree with about two years of working experience. There are more chances to get career advancement through an exam.
